Having Trouble Sleeping?

Having trouble sleeping? Try going to bed 30 minutes earlier than you usually do. Turn off all technology. Lay down and close your eyes. Begin to breathe through your nose & deep from the belly. Start to focus on your toes & continue to concentrate on your breath. Now move up to your calves, legs, torso, back, arms, & head. Breathe slowing inhaling & exhaling several times in between as you move from toe to head. Concentrate on each body part & your breath only. As you begin to follow the rhythm of your breath your body will begin to relax & you should be able to drift off to sleep. Try this exercise from 1 to 5 minutes. Sweet Dreams. #lalaland

Why you should celebrate Summer Solstice

I get so excited about the summer, being we live up north. Winter months can last 4 to 5 months depending on each years season, but you can be sure it will be a long one.  I grew up in the south so I adore hot humid weather. Okay maybe not humid, but I do love being able to live outside and the fact that it stays light so late in to the day.  Summer Solstice marks the first official day of summer.  It will actually occur on June 20, 2017 at 11:24 pm CDT for us here in this area. This is when the sun will reach it northernmost point from the equator. We will see the most sunlight for this day then any other day in the whole year. Many countries and cultures celebrate this day.  I love to celebrate it outside and soak up the sun and nature. Take a walk in nature, meditate or do some drumming. Giving thanks to mother earth, to the heavens for this glorious summer season that is upon us.  So get out and celebrate however you see it for you. Take a walk, go for a swim, by some fresh flowers, but above all let us give gratitude for this summer season. So Hello Summer! Happy Summer Solstice.

Winter Solstice/ First Day of Winter

Today is the longest night of the year. The days will begin to become lighter longer as we go into these winter months. Now is a good time to reflect back on the year. 2016 was a number 9 year (add the numbers together). The number nine is the year of completion. Take a look back at the last nine years, reflect back on many events or journeys you experienced and how it brought you to this place.  How do you do end reviews in your life?

Holiday Blues

This time of year brings up many emotions for most of us, both good and bad. Holidays can be filled with fun, families and friends or stress and loneliness.  Continue to count our blessings and being grateful for the little things in our lives can help keep us on a path of happiness this holiday season. Take time for yourself during the holiday and focus on traditions you can create or memories that bring you joy.  Do you have a special tradition for the holidays? How do you handle the holiday blues?
